Vancouver and the Lower Mainland have some of the highest break-in rates of all major Canadian and American cities. Vancouver has nearly four times the break-in rate of New York City.

I just had a call this morning from a lady who had just returned home from vacation and her front door had been kicked in. The cheap deadbolt and door had been broken (I will add pictures later this week). Many of the break-ins I see the front door has been kicked in, the resulting damage is either everything looks perfect except the cheap deadbolt is intact but the end of the bolt is still in the door frame or the metal door (with wooden edges) has folded over. Sometimes the door jam is broken. In Vancouver and now parts of Richmond I am seeing deadbolts that have been opened by an ice pick. Occasionally, I see locks that have been bumped from bump keys.
